In our classroom community, we value and celebrate diverse cultures, traditions, and stories that make every family unique. This month, we are proud to spotlight the Wang family, who have shared a part of their cultural heritage and family traditions with us.
The Wang family has roots in China and values the importance of family and respect. One of their favorite traditions is celebrating Lunar New Year, family gatherings and cultural celebrations. During this time, their home is decorated with red lanterns and banners that represent good luck and exchanging red envelopes to wish one another prosperity in the year ahead. The Wang family enjoys preparing traditional foods like dumplings, whole fish, noodles, and sweet rice balls. It is a time to honor their heritage and spend time with loved ones.
They also share how storytelling plays a huge role in their home. Grandparents often share folktales passed through generations, which teach lessons about kindness and family pride. These stories are a meaningful way to stay connect ed to their cultural roots.
We are grateful to the Wang Family for sharing their traditions with us. By learning about one another's cultures, we build a classroom where every student's background is valued and celebrated.
